GTA 5 listed for Nov. 23, 2012 release on UK retail site

Popular UK retail website, Zavvi, has listed Grand Theft Auto 5 with a November 23, 2012 release date for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

November 23rd is the traditional day for new releases in the UK and, given the recent actions and statements from Rockstar Games, does make logical sense.

GTA 5 previously held a July 2012 release window on Zavvi, but with the delay of Max Payne 3 into mid-May and Rockstar recently saying it will be talking more of Grand Theft Auto 5 in the "coming months", a November release is looking more likely.

In fact, as I previously wrote, a November release for GTA 5 would make a pretty potent game lineup for Rockstar. With Max Payne 3 releasing in May, it could set Rockstar up for a huge announcement on or around E3 June, followed by the game's blockbuster release dead in the middle of the industry's prime time release window.

Of course, if the November release is an accurate estimate, it means GTA 5 would be releasing in the same time frame as a little series called Call of Duty, which usually releases in mid-to-late November. It was recently leaked that Black Ops 2 would be this year's Call of Duty title. But despite the success of the Call of Duty franchise, some believe Grand Theft Auto 5 will having nothing to worry about. Back in January, EEDAR's Jesse Divnich predicted "GTA V will be huge" and possibly be 2012's "biggest release".

During Take-Two's Q3 2012 earnings call, the company confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 was "making great progress" in development. If what Rockstar said is true, then we should be hearing more about the highly anticipated sandbox game soon - or at least in the "coming months".

Of course, Zavvi could just be taking a stab in the dark with their release date and it could just be an estimate. While I don't think November 23rd is the exact date, I do think the November time frame will be when GTA 5 launches.

'GTA TV' And 'Rockstar TV' Trademarked By Take-Two

Grand Theft Auto video series set to accompany GTA 5?

GTA 5 could be accompanied by some sort of GTA-themed TV programming if recent tademark registrations are anything to go by.

Rockstar parent Take-Two publishing registered trademarks for 'GTA TV' and 'Rockstar TV' in the US earlier this month - both fall under the description: "Computer game programs and software; animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes."

It wouldn't be the first game to feature a trans-media tie-in with such IPs as Dragon-Age and Assassin's Creed releasing games propped up by promo web series' in recent years.

Is Rockstar planning to ramp up the video for its key IP, or is this a case of simple tactical trademarking?

GTA 5: More Game Details Scheduled for E3 2012

Rockstar Games has declared that it will be revealing more Grand Theft Auto 5 information in a “few months’ time”. This is pretty much a vague announcement. Months can be a couple of months or even turn into a year. If Rockstar is planning to do a announcement during a big gaming event in the near future then maybe they have set their eyes on E3 2012.

Rockstar is grateful to its fans and especially GTA fans are really enthusiastic. They have responded well to GTA 5 even though some have been part of the spreading of some speculations about the game. There is another big-time game event coming in early March, the Game Developers Conference, but there is also Max Payne 3 to promote. The noirish thriller has been delayed to a May release.

So the E3 2012 convention to be held in June makes a lot more sense. It looks like Max Payne 3 will be getting the promotional treatment itself. At least, this game has had a launch date before; it has just been delayed. When Max Payne 3 gets released in May, Rockstar can focus on GTA 5 the following month. This sounds like a good move. If details will be coming out in June then GTA 5 will be the talk of the gaming community during spring and summer. During this time, Rockstar can hopefully announce the game’s release window. Late 2012 sounds like a good possibility.

There is still a lot of speculation surrounding GTA 5. While the late 2012 release window may not be yet be confirmed, the E3 2012 announcement sounds like it just might happen. After all, it just make sense if we are going to map down Rockstar’s schedule right now.

Attention drawn to GTA 5 soundtrack

While graphics and gameplay are an important part of any game you’ll also find the music is just as important to some gamers, and this is especially true for the Grand Theft Auto 5 release, which has had a few hints dropped towards the end of last month.

You might have seen EMI highlight its attentions for music in GTA 5, and when the release date comes they hope the game gives them an opportunity to showcase music gamers might never see otherwise. EMI believe GTA 5 offers them a “unique opportunity” and also one that could “deliver value” to the creators of music.

What does the gamer want for GTA 5′s soundtrack? We have a few artists in mind when it comes to EMI’s roster, which include David Bowie, James Brown and the Beasty Boys although everyone’s music tastes are different. In our opinion nearly all Grand Theft Auto games have delivered when it comes the soundtrack, and this is one of the elements most gamers don’t worry about for GTA 5.

Some people feel San Andreas did a good job with the GTA soundtrack, but Vice City did it better and showed you how GTA music puts you in the time and place so well, would you agree? The featured GTA 5 trailer song, you can see this again in the second video below, is the only song that is confirmed for the upcoming game (at this time) and was created by The Small Faces.

The first video below this article looks at what we’ve learned about the next GTA game so far, and combined with speculation it takes a look at what could be the biggest game of 2012, which obviously depends on the release date for GTA 5. Take a look at the video and let us know if you agree with the creator’s thoughts.

What did you think about the song in the trailer, title track for Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake, and do you have a wishlist when it comes to music for GTA 5? It shouldn’t be long before we get some more official news, especially considering Rockstar recently explained that we should see more updates in February.

Another option for GTA 5 music – some fans want a more customizable way to enjoy music in the game, and this includes the main characters having the ability to play music through a Walkman or iPod, which means they could listen to music on foot. What ideas do you have for music in GTA 5 and do you have any other ways you’d like the upcoming game to be customizable?

Rockstar: GTA 5 news coming "in a few months"

Rockstar has said we can expect to hear more about Grand Theft Auto 5 in a few months time.

Answering the numerous 'Where oh where is GTA 5?' questions in its open Asked and Answered thread, a nameless Rockstar representative said the developer is toiling away diligently and hopes to reveal more soon.

"Right now, we are very hard at work on the game and are excited as well to show and tell you more as development progresses - expect that we'll be talking much more about GTAV starting at some point in a few months' time."

Last week Take-Two told investors in a financials call that development of Grand Theft Auto V is "making great progress", however it didn't provide a window of release.

National Alliance Capital Markets analysts have said they expect GTA 5 to launch in May 2012, into the Company's 2013 fiscal second-half operating period.

GTA 5 is 'Making Great Progress' says Take Two boss

Still no release date or release window for Rockstar's in development open-world blockbuster GTA 5.

Grand Theft Auto V details have been extremely thin on the ground since the reveal trailer got everyone excited back in November 2011, but we finally have an update - albeit a very, very small one.

Speaking during Take Two's earnings call overnight, T2 boss Strauss Zelnick said that "Grand Theft Auto V is making great process." That's your lot. No news on a release window was given, although analysts are adamant that the game will arrive before April 2013.
